Orlando Bloom’s visit to India began on a sour note. The actor, who was invited to the country by UP CM Akhilesh Yadav to promote tourism, arrived in Delhi from London on Saturday at 1.30am, only to learn that the e-visa he had applied for on November 30 had been rejected.
He was then deported back to the UK at 4am. It was only after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj intervened that the actor was granted a visa. He flew back to India on Sunday morning and visited the Taj Mahal .
Amar Singh, who is hosting Bloom in India, told us, “He had applied for an e-visa and didn’t get a reply. His office thought that he would get the visa on arrival. Being a Hollywood celebrity, he has never faced such treatment in any other country. His office was never informed that the visa has been rejected for whatever technical fault and they are not used to the intricacies of the Indian system. He took a British Airways flight and they were satisfied with the e-visa and thought it will never be rejected.Reported by Indian Express.
